Visualization for not-so-visual people

Dwayne Melancon's Monday posting on the Genuine Curiosity blog mentions visualization as a key to success. While I'm all for visualization techniques, what if you're not an especially visual person?

Not to worry! Visualization doesn't have to be visual at all. We live in a world that emphasizes our sense of vision, so the term "visualization" is often used as a shorthand for the human potential of "manifestation." But you don't have to visualize your success to manifest it.

Your senses are just a doorway into the manifestation process, and any sense will do. Are you more of an auditory than a visual person? Great! Hear your success! Imagine what it will sound like when you get the funding for your project, or you wow your audience with that great presentation, or (my personal favorite) you are presented with the first copy of your book in print. Are you more of a tactile person? Wonderful! Imagine how the check or the podium or the book will feel in your hands. Are your olfactory senses especially sharp? Terrific! Smell your success. It doesn't matter how you imagine it. Just imagine it!

There is only one important thing to understand about manifestation (which is especially powerful at creating win-win situations, by the way): it is the ability to feel your creation that matters. Feeling it gets the process moving. The senses are just the doorways into this deeper truth. However you imagine the future you seek, the important thing is to access the emotional state of that future. Those feelings are real. Enjoy them! Hold onto them! They will pull you toward your success.

Some people actually skip the sensory impressions altogether. They don't bother to imagine their success. They just feel it, which is perfectly fine. This is the aspect of the process that actually works - the one that put us in the right mindset to get where we want to go. If you see your future without feeling it, then you haven't gotten very far. That's why you shouldn't bother with visual imagery if you aren't a visual person. Instead, use whatever helps you feel your future. That's the important thing.

Once you have reached the point of feeling the reality you seek, then all you have to do is follow your intuition to get there. In essence, you have programmed your intuition to pull you in the direction of that particular outcome. The better you are at maintaining that state of feeling your future, the more direct your path will be.

One final note: if your feelings start to waiver, don't panic! First, take some time to reflect and make sure that the path you have chosen still feels like your highest path. Life changes all the time. If you are no longer feeling the path you have chosen, your soul may simply be calling you in a new direction.

But if your intention still feels like your highest path and you are merely suffering from doubt, then just use the manifestation process to feel your success again. Don't waste energy punishing yourself for your doubts. Everyone has them. Just set yourself back on track.

Remember, storms hit ships at sea too. Captains rarely give up and turn around just because they've been blown a bit off course. No matter where you are, and no matter where you want to go, you can get there from here. You just have to feel it.
