[The book Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi is reviewed. The post also introduces the switch from "Win-Win Web" to the Mind Unbound format.]
I'm back - with a brand new look! I'm jumping the gun a bit because the Mind Unbound website won't be fully built for a few weeks yet, but I thought I'd give my blog readers a "sneak peek" into the Mind Unbound world with the new blog design.
The e-zine idea for the website is out, for now. We just couldn't do what we had hoped with it, so we're sticking to the blog for now. (If you're wondering about the "we" reference, that will be on the website. I'll post about the grand unveiling when it's up and running.)
But the new website inspired me to give the blog an overhaul - so here it is! (The blog will eventually point to the website, but the website won't point to the blog. It's an asymmetrical sort of relationship.)
For my first post back, I want to share with you this book I'm reading: "Never Eat Alone" by Keith Ferazzi. It's wonderful! It's a book about networking, and if you're interested in an innovative view on networking that works, then read this book!
According to Ferazzi, networking is all about generosity. He takes a society-wide view of the networking phenomenon, focusing on the mutually beneficial relationships that make up the whole. In other words, you might not always be able to help someone who helps you, and vice versa, but that isn't the point. In the larger community of humanity we all help each other, and we would all do better to keep that broad view rather than trying to "tally up" who owes whom what.
It's a brilliant book that showcases the tremendous value of networking as well as describing exactly how the very best "connectors" do what they do. (Plus it's a great conversation starter. I went out to lunch this past week with my copy in hand, and at least five different people came up to me and started a dialog by joking that I was eating alone while reading a book titled "Never Eat Alone." In the end, I didn't really eat alone at all. I ate lunch with at least five different strangers that day, two of whom asked me for my web site address.)
As for the blog, I'll be keeping up with my posts much more regularly, but still not as often as I was before. Instead of writing three to four posts a week, I'll be spending more of my time working on my book... which I will talk more about as time goes on! So many wonderful things coming along down the road - so stay tuned!

This is a really nice new look for the blog. I've also read most of that book, and found most of its ideas engaging.

Marianne - Thank you! What a wonderful compliment! The blog banner is based on the home page for the new website, coming in just a couple of weeks now. The photo and layout came from the highly talented folks at Gravitate Design.
Tora - Thanks! I recently bought another copy of the book to give to a young friend of mine. If I knew then what I know now...!
